Potential Medical Emergencies

A medical emergency may include, but is not limited to:

  • Severe, persistent chest pain (especially radiating to arm or jaw with sweating, vomiting or shortness of breath)
  • Trouble breathing with chest pain or skin turning blue
  • Loss of consciousness
  • New weakness or paralysis in the face or limb
  • New difficulty speaking, walking or loss of coordination
  • Seizures without a previous diagnosis of epilepsy
  • Sudden testicular pain and swelling
  • Suspected poisoning or drug overdose
  • Suspected broken bone with open skin or severe deformity (dislocation)
  • Eye injuries or vision loss
  • Suicidal thoughts, homicidal thoughts, confusion or hallucinations Abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding while pregnant
  • Vomiting blood or coughing up blood
  • Major surgery within the last seven days
